Our Focus on Community Impact
Since 1948, the YMCA of the Black Hills has been committed to strengthening the bonds that tie us together in community and being responsive to critical community needs.
With programs and services focused on empowering young people, improving the health and well-being of all, and inspiring action in and across communities, the Y ensures a brighter future for all.

Jump Start Childcare
YMCA Jump Start is a full-service center for teen parents or parents who are trying to break the cycle of poverty through one of our partner programs. With support from the John T. Vucurevich Foundation, the Y provides a safe, caring, and positive environment for children 6 weeks to 4 years old whose parents are currently enrolled and attending classes through the Rapid City High School, or whose parents are enrolled at One Heart, Uplifting Parents, and Workforce Connections.

Healthy Kids Day
YMCA Healthy Kids Day is an annual family event promoting active lifestyles, nutrition, and community engagement, fostering healthier, happier kids and families through fun activities and education.

Feeding Kids
The YMCA of the Black Hills is committed to playing a part in combating food insecurity in our community through the Summer Food Service Program. This program runs Monday-Friday in June, July, and August in the YMCA Courtyard Cafe and at Main Street Square in Downtown Rapid City. For 2025, Tuesday/Thursday meal pickup was added at our Liberty Center YMCA location.
