Child Watch

The peace of mind to focus on YOU.

Child Watch allows mom, dad, or caregiver to pursue their own health and well-being while knowing their child is safe, secure, and having fun in a positive environment. Child Watch is available for youth ages 6 weeks – 12 years old and is available to Y members only.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Children 6-weeks-old until elementary age are eligible to use Child Watch.
  • Children must be checked in by an adult and must be listed on Y membership. Same person required for drop off/pick up.
  • Limit of 2½ hours per day per child. This service is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • A wait list is available if Child Watch is “Full” when members arrive.
  • If a child requires specialized care, parents need to provide specific training. If a child can only be accommodated by lowering the room ratio, then parents will need to provide an additional volunteer who meets Y volunteer requirements.
  • Visit your home location for more information about Child Watch.

Volunteer Opportunities

Child Watch is regularly looking for volunteers to help care for children. Volunteers must be 18 years or older, pass a background check, and able to commit one 4-hour shift per week. The YMCA of Rapid City offers memberships to volunteers who meet the volunteer membership criteria.
