Child Watch allows mom, dad or caregiver to pursue their own health and well-being while knowing their child is safe, secure and having fun in a positive environment. Child Watch is available for youth ages 6 weeks – 12 years old at our Rapid City location; and for youth ages 6 weeks – 5 years at our Liberty Center location. This service is available to Y members only.
Liberty Center Child Watch Hours: Monday-Thursday 4:30-6:30pm; Monday-Friday 8:30-11:30am; Saturday 8:30-10:30am
Rapid City Child Watch Hours: 8:15AM to 1:15PM Monday – Friday; 5:30-7:30PM Monday – Thursday; 9AM-1PM Saturday
Eligibility Requirements
- Children must be at least 6-weeks old to be eligible to use Child Watch.
- Children must be checked in by an adult and must be listed on Y membership. Same person required for drop off/pick up.
- Limit of 2 hours per day, per child. This service is on a first-come, first-served basis.
- A wait list is available if Child Watch is “full” when members arrive.
- If a child requires specialized care, parents need to provide specific training. If a child can only be accommodated by lowering the room ratio, then parents will need to provide an additional volunteer who meets Y volunteer requirements.

Volunteer Opportunities
Child Watch is regularly looking for volunteers to help care for children. Volunteers must be 18 years or older, pass a background check, and able to commit one 4-hour shift per week. The YMCA of Rapid City offers memberships to volunteers who meet the volunteer membership criteria.
