2nd–5th grade Boys and Girls Basketball Leagues

Respective girls and boys leagues for basketball players in 2nd -5th grades.  These leagues are comprised to allow competition against teams in the same age group.

Teams are built by grade, school designation and by previous participation and are coached by PARENT volunteers. With games on Saturdays in one of the gyms at the YMCA, this Y-basketball program requires that each player gets the opportunity to play an equal amount of each game. Through the games and practice times, each player learns fundamental basketball skills, the importance of teamwork and team concept, gains a sense of fair play and develops relationships with their teammates.

Practice times will be provided at some of the local grade school gyms and will be scheduled at the first parent/coach meeting. Volunteer coaches will meet with the sports staff prior to the season to discuss YMCA rules and playing philosophy.

All grades will begin games on Saturday, Nov. 4. Games are scheduled Saturday mornings and afternoons.

The 2nd and 3rd grade leagues end December 9.
The 4th/5th grade league ends December 16.

Initial registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 23, to ensure a spot on a particular team.  Registrants after this date will not be guaranteed to be placed on a team representing your school and fee increases by $10.
