Full Time Receptionist At BH Energy Childcare

Excellent opportunity to join one of the finest staff teams in Rapid City.  This position is responsible for putting a smile on the face of everyone who comes into the YMCA Horizon Point Preschool while providing administrative assistance. As the receptionist you will also be subbing in childcare classrooms as needed.  This position will be at Black Hills Energy, Monday – Friday. 


Telephone Reception

  • Enthusiastically answer the telephone within three rings or less.
  • Ensure that every inquiry is answered accurately or directed to the proper source.
  • Always convey the YMCA culture of friendliness, compassion, and fantastic customer service.

Childcare Classroom Aide

  • Be willing to get down on the children’s level, run, play and interact all day long.
  • Participate in mission based, fun, age-appropriate, safe, and meaningful activities.
  • Ensure the safety and security of each child in your care.
  • Fully comply with YMCA safety policies and state and local codes

Organizational Knowledge

  • Maintain an accurate knowledge of leadership team members and the resources each has to offer for information and problem resolution.

Membership, Program, and General Information

  • Professionally address member concerns to a positive conclusion and in a manner consistent with YMCA core values.
  • Always maintain a pleasant attitude and tone of voice.
  • Connect with the members, such that members are left with the impression of the YMCA as a positive environment.

Emergency Procedures

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all emergency procedures in such a way that immediate response will be given.

Administrative Assistance

  • Provide administrative assistance as requested:
    • Mailing
    • Communications via email, mail, or phone.
    • Filing
    • Data Entry
    • Coping
    • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: This person must:

  • Have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Actively communicate a positive attitude.
  • Be proficient with computer software including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel programs.
  • Be proficient with multi line phone systems
  • Be enthusiastic, friendly, reliable, and able to handle multiple tasks on a daily basis.
  • Be able to maintain confidential information.
  • Be able to sit, stand, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Be CPR and First Aid certified prior to or within 60 days of employment.
