Youth Basketball

2nd–5th grade Boys and Girls Basketball Leagues

This YMCA basketball program requires that each player get the opportunity to play equal amounts of each game and every position to better learn the fundamentals of basketball.

It is a league, coached by parent volunteers, for players in 2nd through 5th grades to compete against teams in the same age group.

Teams are put together by grade, school designation and prior participation. Games will be played at the YMCA on Saturday mornings and afternoons. Practice times will be provided at some of the local grade school gyms and will be scheduled at the first parent/coach meeting.

Practice times will be provided at some of the local grade school gyms and the Y on Tuesday/Thursday at 6 or 7 p.m. Practices will be scheduled at the first parent/coach meeting.
Games are scheduled Saturday mornings and afternoons beginning Saturday, Jan. 26.

Early registration deadline is Monday, Jan. 7, to ensure a spot on a 8-10 player team. Registrants after this date will not be guaranteed to be placed on a team with classmates. Order and number of registrations will determine school team placement. Fee increases by $10 after Jan. 7.

Boys Tiny Tots Basketball Clinic (for boys ages 5-8)

This is a 4-week clinic on Saturdays that will introduce players to the fundamentals of basketball from volunteer clinicians. These clinicians will teach skills like proper techniques of dribbling, passing and shooting. More emphasis will be put on doing drills to improve ball handling ability than on playing games. The idea is to make it fun for these young players while they learn some basic basketball fundamental skills.

Clinic will take place Saturday mornings, 9-9:45 am, Jan 5-26, in the gyms at the YMCA. Hurry to register early as enrollment is limited.

Registration is now open and continues until January 2 or session is full.
Register online or at the YMCA membership desk.
