Lap Swim

Adult Lap Swim

This time is designated for 18 and older lap swimmers/exercisers only. Exceptions to age limits cannot be made regardless of the swimmers swimming ability. Swimmers may use pull buoys, kick boards or jog laps with belts on. Please note that other programs and open swim may be occurring in the pool. We guarantee 2 lanes for lap swim, but in many cases there are 4 or more.

To ensure everyone has the opportunity to swim: 1) every lapper will need to “Circle Swim”, or share the lanes “half and half”.  2) No groups – of 3 or more, may come to lap swim except during advertised specific “Group Lap swim” times.  Please see Youth/Teen/Adult lap swim for those under 18 who want to swim laps.

Group Lap Swim

During specified times only. At the request of our serious lap swimmers, we have developed a group lap swim plan.  Please review these policies before you plan to come as a group (Max. of 6 swimmers, 2 lanes).  If you have questions, please email our aquatic director at frances@rcymca.org.

  •  Groups of 1-3 swimmers will use 1 lane.  Circle swim.  Please see posted literature/graphics, on our pool deck, advertising the USA Swimming recommended guidelines on how to share, 3 swimmers to a lane.
  • Groups of 4 – 6 will use a maximum of 2 lanes.

We know if the pool has extra lanes you will want to “spread out” until other lappers or activities arrive.  We will be happy to adjust for that, but with the intent that there will always be one empty lane ready for a walk in.

Further questions, and clarifications may be addressed to the lifeguard on duty or emailed to our aquatic director.  This is a NEW activity and further policies/practices will be added as needed.
