You asked, we answered.
Here are some of our most frequently asked questions and answers.

Do you participate in the Nationwide Membership program?
Yes, if you have a current YMCA membership elsewhere we will honor that membership. Please bring a photo ID with you.

Are out-of-town guests welcome?
Yes, if your guest has a current YMCA membership elsewhere we will honor that membership. If you are a YMCA of Rapid City member, you may bring your out-of-town visitor with you to the YMCA as your guest while you are working out. Guests must bring a photo ID with them to the YMCA.

Can I try out the YMCA?
Absolutely, we have one week trials for those interested in joining the Y, if you live in the Rapid City area and have not been in the YMCA facility in the past 18 months. The week trial is eligible for the Randy Travis Wellness Center, open or family swim, any group exercise class, use of Child Watch, plus much more. (Must be 18 years of age or have parent accompaniment on first visit.) We ask that you take a tour with one of our Member Experience Associates before receiving your one week trial so you'll have a better understanding of all the great stuff that we have to offer. Please bring a photo ID with you. [Starting February 1, 2021]

Does the YMCA have a nursery?
Yes, Child Watch is a drop-in service provided by caring staff and volunteers for members to use while you work out in the YMCA. It is available to children ages 6 weeks through elementary age.

What is the difference between Open Swim and Family Swim?
Open swim is a time to come and have fun in the YMCA family pool – there are play features such as lily pads and slides. Those under the age of 6-1/2 must have an adult in the water with them. Those between the ages of 6-1/2 and 11 that cannot swim one length of the lap pool must be with a responsible person that is 12 years or older.

Family swim is a time designated just for families to have fun together in the YMCA family pool.

Do you have trainers?
