Youth Policy

  • Children under the age of 6½ must be directly supervised by an adult at all times while in the YMCA.
  • Kids who are age 6½ until they turn 12 years old that are in the YMCA without an adult may be in the YMCA building for up to 4 hours each day. During the 4 hour period the kids must be in the Youth Center, enrolled in a class or attending open swim.
  • All youth 12-years-old and under without an adult present at the YMCA must be picked up no later than 8:45 pm. If youth are not picked up by 9 pm, the authorities may be called.
  • Youth 14-years-old and under may not use electronic devices in the YMCA unless monitored by a parent. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen electronic devices. The YMCA strongly recommend that all electronic devices are left at home. Cell phones may be used for parental communication.
  • Youth 10-13, accompanied by a parent, may participate in all group exercise classes. Youth must actively participate in the program, with parent participating or observing from observation area. Youth 14 and older may attend group exercise classes on their own.
