Lay Person CPR / First Aid Certification

The first Tuesday of each month we will be offering an Adult/Child/Infant Layperson CPR/First Aid certification course through the American Safety and Health Institute, a nationally recognized program.  This course is a blended learning course where the classroom/book work (2-6 hours) is done online and the hands on skills practice and testing is done in person with a certified Instructor.  This course is for the first time CPR student as well as those needing a review or recertification in lay person CPR, AED & first aid. 

These classes will be held on the first Tuesday of each month. February, April, September and November class time is 12-2 pm. For all other months, class time is 6:30-8:30 pm.

Registration and class details :

  • Registration opens the first Tuesday a month prior to your course and ends the Thursday before your class.  For example, class on March 6, registration dates are February 6 to March 1.
  • Register online, by phone, or in person.
  • Once registered, to receive your online course work assignments, you must immediately email frances@rcymca.org.  Student must email frances@rcymca.org no later than 5 days before their course.
  • Student must complete all online course work and print out verification of such to bring with them to their skills practice/testing session.  Failure to complete online course work will result in student not being able to attend skills/practice testing session and cannot be rescheduled No refund can or will be provided for any reason.
  • Student must pass both a knowledge check and a hands on performance evaluation to receive their 2-year certification.

Healthcare Provider CPR certification

This professional level course will be held on an as needed/requested basis. 
These national organization certifications are available. Prices vary by certification agency. 

AHA – American Heart Association
ARC – American Red Cross
ASHI  American Safety and Health Institute

This level of CPR is a specialty course, and is scheduled on an as needed/individual basis, you must send an email request to frances@rcymca.org for details on the professional level courses.
