Food Service Associate Director-OneHeart

General Expectations: The Food Service Associate Director for OneHeart is responsible for development and maintenance of excellence in the food service department. This position reports directly to the Food Service Director at the YMCA. 

Reports to: YMCA Food Service Director

Salary: $16.00 per hour

Performance Objectives: To develop a continually increasing standard of excellence as directed by the YMCA Food Service Director in accordance with YMCA goals and policies in the following areas:

Health and Safety:

  1. Maintain cleanliness and room appearance such that at least 90% of guests agree that it is good or excellent.
  2. Ensure that all state and local codes are being enforced in the kitchen such that a rating of 95% is achieved from the state
  3. Maintain the quality and quantity of cleaning supplies and equipment

Food Preparation:

  1. Food must be prepared in such a way that 95% of the guests agree that is good or
  2. Plan, implement, and supervise healthy menus at least one week in advance.
  3. Plan, implement, and supervise healthy menus based on the availably for the current week.
  4. Be prepared to implement changes in menu rapidly.
  5. Set up and plan for buffet style meals and serving to include breakfast and lunch options.
  6. Prepare and serve plated meal dinner.
  7. Ensure that supplies are purchased, ordered, and delivered, such that One Heart is getting the best value, meets budget guidelines and is done in a timely manner so the menus can be carried out with fresh
  8. Prepare snacks, lunches, and drinks for committee meetings upon request by the

OneHeart Guest Services:

  1. Create a pleasant, friendly environment for guests, staff, and community members patronizing One Heart.
  2. Conduct yourself in a professional manner such that 90% of guests will rate the overall quality of food service as good or excellent.

Record Keeping:

  1. Maintain accurate daily records for state, federal, or other reports
  2. Accurately record all purchases made through the kitchen and submit receipts
  3. Complete accident/incident reports as needed
  4. Maintain accurate inventory of stock

Food Service Development:

  1. Recruit, train, and supervise the food service assistant, such that this person meets performance .
  2. Responsible for the professional training and development opportunities for both yourself as well as the food service

Whatever else that may be needed to further the goals of the YMCA & OneHeart.

Orientation Training Must be completed by all staff within 60 days of start date, unless supervisory approval is given for an extension due to unavailability of training or extenuating circumstances. Initial and annual wage adjustments are subject to meeting and maintaining adequate standards.

Note: all persons interested in being a member of the YMCA staff must agree to be right on target with DART.

Employment is conditional upon completion of all trainings required of the position and notification of the results of the background investigation.

Qualifications: This person must:

  • Have a degree in food service Or culinary arts or at least 4 years’ experience of related field experience
  • ServSafe Manager Certification or Certification Obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of CACFP meal patterns and production records.
  • Be able to develop a nutritious food program that is flavorful and appealing.
  • Be responsible for the administration of the food
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 25
  • Have a valid driver’s
  • Submit to pre-employment/random drug testing as dictated by the Department of Transportation Regulations.
  • Have knowledge of and be an advocate of YMA & OneHeart goals and
  • Have CPR and First Aid certification prior to or within 60 days of employment
